LIE FLAT BEDS ON ECONOMY FLIGHTS INTRODUCED

Wouldn't you just love to be able to afford the luxury of business class seats on flights?, but the reality for most of us is that we can't and opt for Economy instead.

Well in order to help passengers have a more comfortable journey, after two years of secret research the Skycouch has been introduced in prototype.

This will make it the first lie flat bed for economy passengers, so that people can actually get a good nights sleep on long haul flights instead of sleeping sitting up.

Tests will begin to put the prototype into action in April. But it will just be people flying from London Heathrow UK to Auckland On Air New Zealand to start off with, as passengers commence on a 26 hour journey.

This is so good for couples or young families travelling together - and especially for the kids who like to have a nap in the day.

The seats have been designed on rows of 3, and you are able to adjust them with a button that removes arm rests and raises mattress panelling.

You can then lie sideways, rather than a reclining seat that would take up too much space (see picture for example).

This is good to hear as as an economy passenger myself, i always felt i was in the bottom of the pile seats! Nice to see they are thinking of new ideas to improve economy instead of business class for a change.

But will the prices be the same or higher? And if so i wonder how they will compare to the business class prices. It should be considerably less really or no-one will bother, but we shall see.

CHEAPER PRESCRIPTION SUNGLASSES

As someone who needs to wear glasses from time to time, i was worried how this would affect me when i was on holiday.

It definitely wasn't practical to wear sunglasses on top of my own, so i looked into prescription sunglasses instead.

The prices seemed to be even more expensive than normal eyeglasses, then i took a look at the Zenni Optical site.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the prices are alot cheaper. I then thought whats the catch?

Well the reason the prices are lower than your own optician would be, is that the eyeglasses come directly from the factory to you. Meaning no retail costs, no middlemen involved and it means there is no need for Zenni Optical to have massive advertising budget either.

This way you still get the quality and comfort your looking for, but at a much cheaper price.

There are different types and styles of sunglasses available, as well as normal eyeglasses to suit all tastes.

You even have the option to choose frame colours, extra sunshade, tinted lenses and of course add your own eye prescription to your order.

Buying online is alot more convenient than travelling to your optician and waiting around.

DRE WAPENAAR'S TREE TENT

There was me thinking that the Camping Pod was an unusual modern camping invention, then i saw this tree tent.

It's been created by a Dutch sculptor called Dre Wapennar, and as you can see it has been designed to hang in a tree instead of on the ground.

If you love this you can pick it up for small price of just $50,000! Inside there is 9 foot diameter hardwood floor, round matress and it can sleep 2 adults.

I think i would be cholstophobic with just me in there never mind two people!

I wonder what he was thinking when he designed this. Was it the usual camping fears of bears, bugs, critters or something else creeping up on you in the night!?

Would you like to sleep in one of these yourself?

WORLDWIDE EVENT SEARCHER

Search result example

Do you love to look for when the next upcoming event is in your area?

It can be difficult to know where to search sometimes. That's what i like about the EventSetter website.

From here you can search for social events over the world including USA, United Kingdom, Spain, Japan, Germany and many more.

Several events you can search for are anything like comedy acts, theatre, exhibitions, fashion shows, business networking, excursions, festivals etc.

All you have to do once you have selected your country and city/state is select the type of event you are interested in, and choose a date from the calender that suits you. Or if you want to see everything for the year you can view all events.

As well as the events around your area, you can also use the cool virtual event searcher too, to find online classes, parties and social networking opportunities.

If one event or more takes your fancy, you have the ability to be able to save it on the system in your 'quick list' area so you can keep track of everything.

Maybe you know of an event yourself that's coming up?, or you want to promote your own business event? You can do this by posting an event once you sign up.

It's just like having your own social diary really, but an online version instead!

ONE OF THE MOST HAUNTED: Waverly Hills Sanatorium

Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Loiusville, Kentucky is considered one of the most haunted places in the USA. Looking at the pictures alone will just give you the creeps!

It originally opened it's doors in 1910 as a two storey wooden structure with 40 beds, to try and treat patients with the contagious disease Tuberculosis.

This was quite a common disease back then with no known cure. It was also known as the White Plague and Consumption.

By 1926 it was made into the brick and concrete building as you see it today.

How the Sanatorium looked in it's opened days: Patients are out on the Sun Porch in front of their room doors

Now an eerie hallway showing the doors lies empty where patients once resided (compare with the pic above)

A massive 63,000 people died in the sanatorium. Most of those were said to be through severe mistreatment of patients and unnecessary medical procedures and experiments being carried out. I was shocked to hear that alot of those were children.

What used to be once used as a pathway for employees was made into a disturbing body drop tunnel. Deceased bodies were taken to the bottom via a motorized rail track system, to keep it a secret from the patients of the amount of people that were dying.

Many hauntings and ghost like findings have been reported such as voices, screams, cold spots, shadows that shouldn't be there and figures.

Room 502 is known for being one of the most haunted in the building. This was an old nurses station, and a nurse hung herself there when she found out she was pregnant. Another nurse climbed into the room committed suicide by jumping out.

An effective antibiotic treatment called Streptomycin was discovered in 1943, which is still used to this day.

Because of this there no longer became a use for Waverly Hills and the Sanatorium was shut down in 1961.

It did re-open it's doors again, but this time as Woodhaven Geriatrics. But yet again patient treatment was being abused to the extreme of using shock treatment at unnecessary times. Most of the time this resulted in the patients death.

This brutality only got worse until in 1982 it was finally shut down by the State of Kentucky

Since that time the Sanatorium had several different owners, but now the current owners plan to have the place restored.

For the amount of deterioration over the years this will cost a considerable amount of money, so in the meantime ghost hunting tourist conventions are held to try and raise the cash.

GIRLFRIEND GETAWAY DEALS

One of the things i always wanted to do when i was younger was plan a girlfriend getaway, but i never got round to it. Then life kinda moves on so quickly.

My husband said to me 'you can still do it now, whats stopping you?' and i made me think. It would be great to get all the girls together and have a break, even if its just for the weekend.

I will research a few ideas first before going to them. I would like to see if i can get hold of one of the Bookit.com deals or any others via the Super Savings website. This way we can all make some savings on the holiday.

Have you ever been on a 'girlfriend getaway?' and if not would you like to?

THE WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE RV

If you own your own RV, it probably seems quite small and cheap compared to this huge vehicle worth a massive $2.5 million!

Named the Platinum RV, it has been kitted out with complete luxury in mind. It even has it's own bottom section underneath that can store a car if you fancy a change in travel. Or maybe a better Chance of being able to park in a space! Imagine trying to park this RV!

You wouldn't even have to stop off at a petrol station either, seeing as the RV's tank holds 235 gallons which is about $1,000 in petrol.

From the second you step on board you are greeted by entry steps made from Inca marble, and the drivers dashboard area is made from African sapele Pommele.

The lounge has a custom made Italian sofa complete with double electric reclining chairs.
The ceiling is covered in a copper sculpture with Swarovski crystals.

A unique sapele veneer liquor cabinet has been built in, and stocked with crystal glasses that have been signed by Michael Weems and decanter from Neiman Marcus.

You can also find a built in tread mill that comes out from the wall in case you get too lazy in all this luxury surroundings!

In the bedroom there is a king size bed with posts made from mirrored crystal, and a plasma TV that lifts out of a footyard.

Bathroom furniture and fixtures are finished in copper and crystal and the shower walls are onyx.

A bit over the top do you think? Or if you had the money would you go out an buy one of these yourself?

USA LIVING: Which City Would You Live In?

I do like where i live. The old saying goes there is no place like home.

But if i had the money i would probably consider living 6 months out the year abroad.

I have always been a fan of the USA, especially Florida, New York and California, and think they would be cool places to live in.

If its not just for the hustle and bustle and excitement that's around wherever you go, i would settle just for the lovely weather alone.

When i go on holiday to the USA year after year it does make me want to consider contacting somewhere like a Long Beach Property Management agency to get things moving. But what area would i actually go for if i lived there?

Maybe i could rent different places in several areas for a while and see how it goes? Or maybe i could just purchase a holiday home, so other people could get use out of it when i'm not around?

The plus also is i could make a little extra cash, instead of the property staying empty and gathering dust.

If you were able to live anywhere in the USA, which city would you live in and why?

Or if you are in the USA already, are you happy to stay where you are?

GREAT BRITAIN SNOW COVERED SATELLITE MAP

They are calling the bad snowy weather in Great Britain at the moment 'The Big Freeze'.

Snow of this amount and the time it has stayed for is really unusual for the country.

This shocking recent satellite map picture provide by NASA shows just how much snow Great Britain has at the moment.

The island is completely covered as you can see, and there is not one bit of green in site.

I find it quite scary and disturbing like it's became a kind of Ice Age in a way.

CAMPING PODS: The New Tents?

If your thinking of taking a camping trip in the United Kingdom, you could try ditching your tent in favour of these rather cool Camping Pods.

Many holiday parks are offering these timber built homes in the shape of a tent for as little as £20.00 per night.

They can sleep up to 2 adults and 2 children, and have been designed to keep you warm and dry in all weather conditions.

Interior example

You even get a modern decked seating area, which makes a much nicer prospect then being seated on grass that might be muddy.

I think they are quite sweet and definitely one of those 'I did it once' things you would have to do at least.

But does it take the fun out of camping do you think? Would it be more like sleeping in a shed?

And isn't the wind blowing or rocking the tent and strange noises in the night etc all part of the camping experience after all?

ST PANCRAS INTERNATIONAL: New Javelin Trains & Several Services

Javelin Train Interior

When i travel in the UK I like to be in a central location, where i can travel from there to Europe easily.

I like St Pancras International station in London as it offers a few train terminals for international, national and domestic underground railway services.

I also like the fact that all major airports connect to this station, which gives me more options when booking my holiday abroad.

But i know if i wanted to travel to Europe that the new high speed Javelin trains would be my first choice, seeing as i could get to the continent in as little as an hour.

BHUTAN TO HAVE IT'S OWN RAILWAY LINK

It has been announced that an isolated Himalayan Kingdom in Bhutan is to have it's very own railway system, which will be a 11 mile link between here and India.

The £120 million railway is being funded by India, to make the country a more modern one, and to help it 'catch up with the today's times'.

I was amazed to learn that Bhutan had no roads or telephones until 1960, and no television until 1999.

Here are a few more interesting facts about the country:

*Smoking, felling a tree and killing a fish are illegal.
* 60% of the 635,000 population survive and make their living from subsistence farming.
*15-20,000 of the people there are monks.
* All the houses are built traditionally.
* Alot of the residents wear a national costumes, which is a wraparound robe for men with knee length socks & an ankle length dress with a jacket for the women.

* Bhutan is also known as The Land Of The Thunder Dragon, due to it's violent storms.
* Their national sport is Archery.
* Bhutan only allows up to 10,000 tourists per year.

As you can see the railway will be able to give you an interesting insight into how Bhutan lives and their ways of life, as well as some stunning views along the way.

I just hope the hustle and bustle of the trains and people coming and going wont ruin Bhutan's peaceful way of life.

TRAVELLING BY TRAIN: Popular & Affordable Option

Travelling via Trains are fast becoming a more popular option to get to France and Europe.

This is mostly because the UK's Ebbsfleet International and other stations around the country, have modern high speed trains that can get you where you want to be, far quicker than any ferry or aeroplane service would do.

From as little as £65 would get you a return ticket from London to Paris.

For the time it takes to travel to your destination you can really make a proper day or break out of it, and not have to worry so much about delays or waiting around for your luggage.
